Riviera Nayarit is preparing for a vibrant season featuring some of the year’s most attractive sporting and adventure events. From May to November, various micro-destinations will host competitions that combine adrenaline, extraordinary landscapes, and memorable experiences for both participants and spectators.

One of the first gatherings to kick off the calendar will be the Festival del Viento Nayarit (Nayarit Wind Festival), considered Latin America’s ultimate kiteboarding celebration. From May 22nd to 24th, the beaches of Bucerías will become the epicenter of this aquatic discipline, bringing together athletes and enthusiasts in an atmosphere where the wind, the sea, and the energy of Banderas Bay create the ideal setting to enjoy spectacular exhibitions on the water.

The excitement will continue inland with the Reto Jala Mountain Bike 2026 (Jala Mountain Bike Challenge 2026), scheduled for Saturday, July 25th. This challenge will take cyclists through some of the most impressive landscapes of the Pueblo Mágico of Jala, on the slopes of the Ceboruco Volcano. Featuring 40- and 60-kilometer routes divided into different categories, the competition promises an experience that blends physical endurance with a connection to nature.

In October, one of the most anticipated events on the sports calendar will arrive: the Riviera Nayarit Half Marathon. With a route accompanied by the ocean breeze and views of Nuevo Nayarit, this race has established itself as a platform to promote the destination among domestic and international runners, who find a unique combination of sport and coastal paradise here.

The penultimate month of the year will bring a true aerial adventure with Vuela Nayarit 2026. From November 20th to 22nd, paragliding and hang gliding pilots will gather around the Ceboruco Volcano in Jala and the Cerro de Tecuitata in San Blas to soar through the Nayarit skies in a competition highlighted by its breathtaking natural vistas.

During those same dates, Sayulita will once again become a meeting point for surf lovers with the Sayulita Surf Long Board Contest. From November 20th to 22nd, this iconic coastal micro-destination will welcome athletes to challenge the waves in a longboard competition marked by a relaxed atmosphere, aerial shows, and the town’s characteristic vibe.

Finally, on November 22nd, the Escape Islas Marías will offer a truly extraordinary experience. More than just an athletic race, this event represents a three-day, two-night immersion on María Madre Island, where 5, 10, 21, 50, and 100-kilometer routes will allow participants to discover trails, low jungle, and spectacular Pacific views in one of Mexico’s most unique settings.
